The Bachelor Programme Protestant Theology at the University of Vienna is designed to equip its students with the basics of Old and New Testament Studies, Church History, Systematic Theology, Practical Theology, Religious Laws, Religious Studies as well as pedagogy and teaching methods for religious education in schools.

Students are introduced to the methods of exegetical, philological, historical, philosophical, and systematic studies as well as the methods of human and social sciences and religious studies.

The Teacher Education Programme "Protestant Religion" is designed to equip its students with the basics of theology and religious education. This includes learning, understanding, and reflecting of elementary structures, contents, and key issues of theology and religious studies, including their methodological procedures. Further major parts of this programme are the basics of educational science and practical pedagogics.

Students must choose a second teaching subject or specialization according to their interest.

This program is a joint degree; student can enroll in courses offered by the University of Vienna, the University College of Teacher Education Vienna (PhWien) and Lower Austria (PhNoe), the University College for Teacher Education of Christian Churches (KPH Wien/Krems), and the University College for Agrarian and Environmental Pedagogy.

The Bachelor Programme Religious Education majoring in "Protestant Religious Education" is designed to equip its students with the basics of theology and the pedagogical-didactic skills provided in the University’s teacher education programmes. Graduates of Protestant Theology (BTh/MTh) may study Religious Ed. in order to gain the necessary skills and methods for teaching at primary and secondary schools.

After completing the "introductory and orientation period" (STEOP), students can choose their major on u:space. Changing the major is possible at all times.

Das Ziel des individuellen Bachelorstudiums Altkatholische Religionspädagogische Studien an der Universität Wien ist der Erwerb von Grundkenntnissen in christlichen Theologien, in der Religionswissenschaft, in der Didaktik religiöser Lernprozesse und weitere Kenntnisse nach individueller Schwerpunktsetzung.

Absolvent*innen verfügen über Grundkenntnisse in der Analyse von religiösen Texten und Traditionen, der Geschichte und Entwicklung von religiösen Phänomenen und Institutionen sowie deren systematischer und praktischer Reflexion, sowie die Fähigkeit zur Analyse von religiösen Bildungsprozesse, insbesondere im schulischen Religionsunterricht.

Mögliche Berufsfelder für Absolvent*innen des Individuellen Bachelorstudiums „Altkatholisch-Religionspädagogische Studien“ sind: Kirchen und kirchliche Organisationen, Pfarramt und Schuldienst, Erwachsenenbildung, NGOs, Medien und Öffentlichkeitsarbeit.

Das Erweiterungsstudium dient der Erweiterung der Kompetenzen, die im Rahmen eines sechssemestrigen Bachelorstudiums für das Lehramt im Bereich der Sekundarstufe (Allgemeinbildung) an einer Pädagogischen Hochschule erworben wurden, und berechtigt nach Absolvierung zum Zugang zum jeweiligen Masterstudium für das Lehramt im Verbund Nord-Ost bzw. zum Masterstudium Religionspädagogik an der Universität Wien.
