Extension Curricula (EC)

Currently, two different extension curricula are offered at the Protestant Faculty. The workload for both ECs is 15 ECTS each. They can be completed within two semesters.

The extension curriculum “The Bible: Book, History, Interpretation” at the University of Vienna introduces those students who do not study Catholic theology, Protestant theology or Jewish studies to fundamental knowledge and methods of biblical studies.

The aim is to review the books of the Bible in their historical origin, providing a deeper understanding of their historical background and developments, as well as exegetical insights and scientific interpretations.

The extension curriculum “The Role of Christianity in a Pluralistic Society” at the University of Vienna introduces those students who do not study Catholic theology, Protestant theology or Jewish studies to the fundamental basics of theological reflections and interpretations of today’s society and equip them with religious and cultural-hermeneutical competencies. It is primarily aimed at students who want to gain rudimentary knowledge of theology and are interested in the interaction between theologies and today's plural society.
